If you haven’t heard already, the movie ‘Contagion’ is set to release tomorrow. What could a horror movie about a deadly virus rapidly spreading in an uncontrolled manner have to do with Purell? Well, we think just about everything. The movie, starring A-List actors including Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow, has already stirred up conversation revolving around Purell. Moviegoers who got a sneak peek have been tweeting about their increased need for washing their hands, cleaning their homes, and of course Purell sanitizer. Even the movie crew has gotten on the Purell train. Damon discussed some of his thoughts about increased usage do to the movie, including jokingly mentioning that maybe he should have bought stock in Purell. While the chance of this level of pandemic occurring in reality is slim, several disease physicians have argued that it is not impossible. They claim that pandemics have occurred in the past and will likely happen in the future. Purell may not be able to stop a pandemic, but a little prevention can go a long way.
